The Theater was constructed in the spring of 1947, built with construction blocks steel bars and truss roof, which at the time was considered state of the art. Originally a movie theater, it used Ashcraft Suprex projection made in Long Island City, NY.. Projectors are still in the theater today. Although primarily a film theater, it has enjoyed various historical uses such as Burlesque, Comedy and different forms of music. Artist such as the Jerry Garcia Band, Rickey Nelson, Buddy Holly, Frank Sinatra, Emmylou Harris (while she was pregnant!), Quicksilver messenger service, Country Joe McDonald, Merle Sounders, The Dead, Martin Fierro, Ronnie Montrose, Elvin Bishop, Buddy Owen Band, Joules Brossard and many other. Dear friends of Jerry Knight, Harold and Denise Jones have a history with the theater; Denise Jones lived in the theater when she was 19 yrs old. Harold Jones has an extraordinary musical history in working with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin Sammy Davis Jr, and Quincy Jones. The theater has enjoyed a revival and complete makeover, ranging from new dance floors to new lighting. Featuring Hog II computerized lighting, the only one of its kind in the North Bay. It must be seen to be believed, truly a one of a kind lighting experience.
These innovative and futuristic speakers are used by George Lucas, Eric Clapton R.E.M, Paul McCartney, and recently country music sensation Zack Brown Band just to name a few.
